Most minor repairs do not require a building permit but, many projects may only be performed after securing a building permit. All work will need to be inspected to ensure compliance with the city’s building codes and ordinances.
Permit Process
The process begins with submitting a completed application. Applications may be completed and submitted online or by downloading an application and supporting documents may be submitted by email to brad.ruble@mtvernon.com or delivering it in person to the Engineering and Inspections Office inside City Hall. Please review the different requirements for residential and commercial projects.
Once a completed application is submitted it will be reviewed by the Engineering and Inspections Department, the Planning and Zoning Committee and the city council. If the application is approved, a building permit will be issued.
