Demo Permits
A demolition permit is required if you plan to demolish a structure. The process begins by submitting a completed application and paying the required fee(s). Once approved, a permit can be emailed to you.
Items That Require a Demo Permit
Some common items that require you to obtain a demo permit are:
- House
- Mobile Home
- Covered porch
- Deck
- Garage
- Carport
- Storage building or shed
- Commercial business
Please note that there may be other items that require a demo permit. If you have any questions about what requires a demolition permit contact the Engineering and Inspections Office.
How to Apply
You can complete a demolition permit application and submit it online an application and email it to kevin.gatewood@mtvernon.com or download an application and deliver it in person to the Engineering and Inspections Office inside City Hall.
Fees
Fees may be paid in person or by calling the Engineering and Inspections Office.
$5.00 - one story structure or miscellaneous items such as fences, pools, sheds, etc.
$10.00 - two story and above structures
