Applications, Licenses and Permits

The City of Mt. Vernon has several licenses and permits, these allow businesses to operate and sell alcohol, residents to remodel or add a garage, and a variety of other things that are overseen by the city. A license is granted as permission to do or own something, while a permit usually implies safety and requires an inspection.

An application is required to obtain a license or permit. Most applications are available to submit online, or you may download a copy and submit in person. To process your application in a timely manner, make sure to submit all the required documentation and fees.
