Building Inspector
Position Type: Full Time
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Salary: $29.00 - $36.00 per hour

The position is responsible for residential and commercial inspection of new and rehab construction as well as electrical inspections and code enforcement. Knowledge of heating, plumbing, electrical, and construction a plus. Requires three years of experience in building trades and/or construction management, ICC Certification. Ability of achieving local electrical license (2008 National Electric Code) within 6 months of hire. Two years’ college coursework in construction management or related field is preferable. Applicants must be able to pass background/credit checks and medical assessments. This is an IMRF pension position. Employer paid health insurance. Residency within Jefferson County, IL required within 6 months of employment.
Telecommunicator
Position Type: Full time, required to work mainly nights, weekends, and holidays
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary: $22.72 an hour, holiday pay, 2.5% increase when EMD certified

Accountant
Position Type: Full Time
Hours of Work: Office Hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., some overtime may be required

Candidate will be primarily responsible for data entry of payroll and accounts receivable. Candidates should possess strong math skills, data entry experience, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Good organization and communication skills are also preferred. Attention to detail required. College coursework in Accounting or a directly related field is desirable. Position is responsible for basic data entry including posting journal entries, transactions, and entering invoices. Other responsibilities will include: reconciling various bank accounts, tracking payments of various local taxes, involvement in the payroll process, assisting with the budget, assisting with external audit spreadsheets, maintaining files, and other tasks as assigned. Residency within Jefferson County, Illinois is required after 6 months of employment. Pool Manager

Hours of Work: Hours will vary, requires some evenings and weekends
Salary: Based on experience, starting rate $16.25

Applicants must have prior pool management experience. Strong leadership skills mandatory with ability to supervise, train, and oversee staff. Assumes direct responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the filtration, sanitation, and overall safety of the facility. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal required. Must be proficient at balancing the money drawers and completing nightly deposits.
Water Park Guest Services
Position Type: Seasonal, Part Time
Hours of Work: Hours will vary per day and week, requires evening and weekends
Salary: $15.00

Guest Services workers must be skillful in money handling, speaking with the guests in a friendly and professional manner and hold a food-handler certificate (available online for a $15 fee). Your $15 will be reimbursed mid-summer. Subject to basic reading test, background checks and medical assessment with drug screen.

Lifeguards for the Mt. Vernon Aquatics Zoo must be certified through Star Guard (call the Parks office at 618-242-6890, if you are a new lifeguard or are interested in becoming a lifeguard). The city will pay for you to become a Star Guard certified lifeguard. Subject to basic reading test, background checks and medical assessment with drug screen.
