Invitation to Bid: Summer 2024 Asbestos Properties Demolition Project

The City of Mount Vernon is inviting sealed proposals for the demolition of ten properties containing asbestos within the city. We are seeking qualified contractors to undertake this project and submit their bids by July 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM local time. The proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud at that time.

Project Details: The project involves the demolition of the following properties:

• 1500 Wescott
• 616 Herbert
• 325 Bell
• 1312 Cherry
• 416 S. 21st Street
• 904 S. 22nd Street
• 1017 S. 6th Street
• 2216 College
• 617 S. 16th Street
• 315 S. 2nd Street

Submission Information: Proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes clearly marked with the project addresses. Bids should be delivered to:

Bid Specifications: Specifications for the project can be obtained from Brad Ruble at the City of Mount Vernon Engineering Department, located at 1100 Main Street, Mt. Vernon. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any part of any bid. The successful bidder must be an equal opportunity employer, and all contracts for the construction of public works are subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1-12).
